The purpose of this organization is to evangelize people who have life-controlling problems and initiate the discipleship process to the point where the student can function as a Christian in society while applying Biblical principles to relationships in the Family, local Church, chosen vocation, and the Community. Teen Challenge endeavors include helping people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.
Teen Challenge Samoa works on providing a holistic approach to the healing and rehabilitation of people that are struggling in our community.
Originally established in 1958 by David Wilkerson, Teen Challenge aimed to connect with the youth that were struggling with addictions, anger, and violence, particularly those in the street gangs of New York City. Since then the faith-based programme has spread to over 2000 locations worldwide, enabling young people to take control of their own lives and heal through the teachings of Christ.
Teen Challenge Samoa was established in 2017 under the Apia Harvest Centre Church. Most of our referrals are sent by the Courts as a way to rehabilitate and rectify their behaviour without the need to send young offenders to jail. We also welcome walk in clients, people who have heard of our work and decide to take control of their lives by accepting help and counselling.
We run Wednesday programmes where everyone gathers together for praise and worship, sharing the Word of God before breaking off for individual or marriage counselling with our Counsellors.
As a non-profit organisation, we are funded by Apia Harvest Centre Church, donations and we hold frequent fundraisers that not only connect our community, provide meaningful work for referrals to engage in as apart of their community service but allows the programme to continue functioning and helping as many people as we can.
We are currently fundraising for a new vehicle so that counsellors will be able to conduct follow up visits and counselling at referrals homes, connecting with their families and healing from within the community.
Reverend Amosa is the Senior Pastor of Apia Harvest Centre Church. He has taken on the job of overseeing the entirety of Teen Challenge from under the banner of the Church.
Pauline is the current Director of Teen Challenge Samoa. She took up the role in 2021 and has been a dedicated director and team member ever since, taking the programme in new directions aimed at raising awareness of the programme and the problems plaguing the community.
To contribute towards the realization of behaviour change and reform among offenders and re-offenders
To facilitate successful family and community re-integration for adults and youth involved in the program
To enhance program continuity and organizational sustainability
We are looking to establish a shelter as well as expand our counselling and services to be able to visit vulnerable people in their homes in order to help them as well as their families.
