How Teen Challenge continues to support our clients after they have finished the programme.
Teen Challenge strives to provide ongoing support to all of our clients even after they have left our programme. One of the ways we provide support is by attending their court cases.
One of our wonderful counsellors, Tui Afamasaga, takes the time out of his week in order to attend the court cases of Teen Challenge clients that are appearing before the judge.
Afamasaga not only provides a supportive figure in the crowd but is often called upon by the courts to provide his own testimony towards the progress that the client has made in the programme . The testimonies are important pieces of information that inform the judges of a clients progress and how their behaviour has changed in the eyes of our counsellors.
Afamasaga then carefully records the results from each case and relays the results to the office, allowing us to collate and understand how we are helping. These results also go out to the counsellors so that they can see the tangible evidence of the good work they are doing. He also speaks to the probation office and gets results from cases that he wasn’t able to attend or were not called before the courts on the day expected. We take great care to make sure every one of our clients and their journey is accurately represented when they go before the judge. We want the courts to truly understand the transformation that our clients have gone through while in our programme and attending their cases and providing reports and testimonies is one of the ways we are able to do that.
We are very grateful to the work the Tui does in the courts, sacrificing his own time for the clients of the programme and Teen Challenge as a whole.
